Cosmetic Label Compliance Notes
Beauty products are subject to labeling regulations (FDA in the US, EU Cosmetic Regulation, UK requirements). While LabelsAgent does not provide regulatory advice, we help you design labels that accommodate these practical considerations.
Ingredient Text Readability
Ingredient lists on cosmetic labels can be very long with very small font sizes. We ensure adequate print resolution and contrast so text remains legible.
Batch Code Area
Many cosmetic labels need a reserved area for batch numbers, manufacturing dates or expiration codes. Plan space for overprinting or thermal transfer printing.
Barcode / QR Readability
Barcodes and QR codes require sufficient size, contrast and print quality to scan reliably. Avoid placing codes on curved label edges or over foil areas.
Small Bottle Label Sizing
Small containers (serum bottles, essential oil droppers, lip gloss tubes) have limited label area. Design content carefully to fit without crowding.
Moisture & Oil Exposure
Cosmetic labels must withstand bathroom humidity, shower spray, product residue and skin oils. Choose BOPP or PET with appropriate adhesive and coating.
Net Weight & Product Identity
Most regulations require net contents and product identity prominently displayed. Ensure your label layout has space for this mandatory information.
LabelsAgent produces labels to your specifications. You are responsible for ensuring label content (ingredients, claims, warnings, net contents) complies with your target market's cosmetic labeling regulations. We can recommend font sizes and layout, but regulatory compliance is the brand owner's responsibility.

Beauty & Cosmetic Label Questions
What material is best for skincare labels?+
Clear BOPP and white BOPP are the most popular choices for skincare labels because they are water-resistant, oil-resistant and adhere well to bottles and jars. Clear PET is recommended for premium skincare products that need a no-label look on glass containers.
For luxury skincare gift sets, textured paper with gold or rose gold foil creates a premium boutique feel — but should be used on outer cartons rather than primary containers that contact product residue.
Can cosmetic labels be waterproof?+
Yes. BOPP and PET materials are inherently water-resistant. When paired with a gloss or matte laminate and waterproof adhesive, cosmetic labels withstand repeated moisture exposure in bathrooms, showers and gym environments.
For products that will be submerged or exposed to constant water spray (shampoo, body wash), we recommend White BOPP with full laminate.
Can clear labels use white ink printing?+
Yes. White ink is printed as an opaque base layer on clear BOPP or clear PET labels so that text, colors and graphics appear bright and readable on glass or transparent plastic containers.
Without white ink behind light-colored design elements, the transparent container would show through and wash out the colors. White ink can also be used as a design element on its own for minimalist cosmetic branding.
Can I add rose gold foil to cosmetic labels?+
Yes. Rose gold foil is one of the most popular premium finishes for beauty and cosmetic packaging. It can be applied as a hot foil stamp to logos, brand names, decorative borders or accent patterns.
Rose gold foil works well on clear BOPP, white BOPP, PET, textured paper and coated paper. It pairs especially well with matte laminate for a soft, modern, luxurious look.
What label material works best for curved cosmetic bottles?+
Clear BOPP and white BOPP are flexible enough to conform to curved or tapered cosmetic containers without lifting, wrinkling or edge flagging. For tight curves on very small bottles (serum bottles, lip gloss tubes, essential oil droppers), thinner film materials are recommended.
Avoid rigid materials like thick PET or heavy textured paper for tightly curved surfaces. We can test adhesion on your specific container if you send us a sample.
