Foil wine labels are pressure-stamped metallic foil labels produced for premium wine bottles. They are typically printed on estate paper (Estate #8 or #9), textured paper or wet-strength film, then stamped with gold, silver or copper foil. Most wine brands order a coordinated set — front label, back information label, neck label and bottle seal — using the same substrate and foil tone so the bottle reads as one premium object.

Coordinated Set

A Full Wine Label Set

Most premium wines carry a coordinated set of labels, not just a front label. Each component is produced on matching substrate with the same foil tone.

Component 01

Front Wine Labels

The primary brand label on the front of the bottle. Carries the winery name, varietal, vintage and appellation. Gold foil highlights the brand mark and crest.

Component 02

Back Information Labels

Government warnings, ABV, tasting notes, story copy and barcode. Matched to the front label’s substrate and print style for a unified look.

Component 03

Neck Labels

Small labels wrapped around the neck of the bottle, often carrying a foil winery monogram or vintage year. A signature detail for premium wine.

Component 04

Bottle Seals

Foil seals placed over the cap or cork closure. Communicate authenticity and add a premium finishing touch for gift and limited-edition wines.

Component 05

Gift Box Labels

Outer labels for wooden or cardboard wine gift boxes, two-packs and presentation sets. Sized and foil-stamped to match the bottle label.

Component 06

Limited Edition Labels

Special-run labels for vintage releases, anniversary bottlings and reserve wines. Often combine foil stamping with embossing for a museum-grade finish.

Specialty Finishes

Embossing

Raised relief on the winery crest or brand mark — tactile and premium.

Debossing

Pressed-in relief. Subtle and sophisticated, often combined with foil.

Matte Finish

Soft low-sheen surface for understated premium wines.

Spot UV

Glossy highlights on a matte background — high-contrast visual effect.

Textured Paper Finish

The paper itself contributes texture — a key part of the premium wine experience.

Foil + Emboss Combo

Reserve-tier finishing. Foil stamped over raised relief for a museum-grade feel.

Double-Layer Foil

Two foil tones (e.g. gold + copper) layered on different artwork elements.

Numbered Editions

Sequential numbering stamped in foil for limited releases and collector bottles.

Cellar & Service

Condensation and Handling Notes

Wine bottles live in cellars, ice buckets and retail shelves — material choice matters.

Condensation on Chilled Bottles

White wine, champagne and dessert wine bottles are typically chilled before serving. Condensation forms on the glass and can damage uncoated paper labels.

Match Material to Environment

For chilled service, choose White BOPP, Clear BOPP or wet-strength estate paper. For cellar-temperature reds, standard estate paper performs well.

Wet-Strength Paper

Premium brands that want a paper look on chilled bottles can specify wet-strength estate paper — treated to resist moisture without losing texture.

Film for Chilled Bottles

For ice buckets and refrigerated retail, film labels (BOPP, PET) are the safest choice. They will not wrinkle, peel or fade under moisture exposure.

Production Notes

Wine Label Artwork Requirements

Practical guidance to keep your wine label production smooth.

Vector Logo Recommended

Supply winery logos and crests as vector files (AI, EPS, PDF). Vector art stays sharp at any size and is required to make a clean foil-stamping die.

Separate Foil Layer

Provide the foil area as a separate vector layer (100% black where foil applies) so the stamping die can be produced without ambiguity.

Front / Back Alignment

Front and back labels share one artwork grid so they align when applied to the bottle. We supply a die-line template for both.

Neck Label Size Confirmation

Neck labels must fit the bottle neck precisely. Send a physical bottle or precise neck diameter so we size the label correctly.

Foil Wine Label FAQ

Answers to the questions wineries and wine brands ask before ordering.

Are foil labels suitable for wine bottles?

Yes. Foil labels are widely used on premium wine bottles because gold, silver and copper foil communicates quality and helps a bottle stand out on the shelf or on the gifting table. With the right material and adhesive they perform well on glass across cellar, retail and dining environments.

What paper is best for gold foil wine labels?

Estate #8 and Estate #9 papers are the premium choice for gold foil wine labels. They have a subtle laid texture that pairs naturally with gold foil and embossing. Textured paper is a close alternative for boutique brands that want a tactile, handcrafted feel.

Can wine labels resist condensation?

Yes, when the right material is chosen. For chilled wine or bottles that will face condensation, White BOPP and Clear BOPP films are recommended because they resist water permanently. Wet-strength estate paper is also available for premium brands that want a paper look with better moisture performance.

Can I order front and back labels together?

Yes. We produce front, back and neck labels as one matching set, using the same substrate, foil tone and print style. Front and back labels are aligned to the same artwork grid so the bottle reads consistently from every angle.

Can you make wine neck labels?

Yes. Neck labels are produced as part of the wine label set, sized to fit the neck of standard 750 ml wine and champagne bottles. We can also produce custom neck labels for magnums, half-bottles and specialty spirits bottles.
